Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)

Take advantage of intelligent, seamless, and user-friendly FSAs from WEX. The WEX Medical Flexible Spending Account is a tax-free account that lets you contribute pretax dollars from your paycheck to pay for prescription drugs, dental, vision, hearing and other medical expenses for you and your dependents.

Note: If you are enrolled in the Augusta Health High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) or any other high deductible HDHP plan outside of Augusta Health, then you are not eligible for this benefit.

The Medical FSA benefit is a use-or-lose benefit, meaning you must spend the funds by 12/31 each year.

The WEX Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account helps save money on eligible dependent care services, such as child (up to age 13) or adult daycare, before or after school programs, summer day camp, and more.

Eligibility for the Dependent Care FSA is not affected by your choice of medical plan.

The Dependent Care FSA benefit is a use-or-lose benefit meaning you must spend the funds by 12/31.

Both heads of household must be working to qualify.

Health Savings & Investment (HSA)

Important: Read the HSA Eligibility information to confirm you are allowed by the IRS to participate. Managing your IRS eligibility is up to you!

When enrolled in the Augusta Health High Deductible Health Plan (AH HDHP link), you choose how much money to contribute to a Health Savings Account (HSA) through WEX. In addition to what you contribute, Augusta Health will also contribute to your HSA.

  • 2024 Augusta Health HSA Information
  • The combined total of you and your employer HSA contributions may not exceed the annual IRS limit.
  • Carry any unused HSA balance from year-to-year. HSA dollars are accumulated with interest or can be invested like a retirement plan benefit. Plus, you can take the money with you if you leave Augusta Health or retire. There is no “use it or lose it” rule for the HSA.

Take advantage of triple tax savings through the HSA:

  1. Reduce your taxable income by contributing to a Health Savings Account.
  2. Pay for qualified Medical, Dental, and/or Vision expense free of tax.
  3. Earn tax-free interest on HSA dollars and invest tax free.

 

To be eligible for the Health Savings Account (HSA) through Augusta Health, you must meet the eligibility requirements. It is your responsibility to read and understand these rules.

      • You must be enrolled in Augusta Health’s High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP).
      • You cannot be enrolled in Medicare or Tricare.
      • You cannot have any other medical coverage.
      • You cannot be claimed as a dependent on someone else’s tax return.
      • If your spouse is participating in a General-Purpose Healthcare Flexible Spending Account through his or her employer, you are not eligible for the HSA.
      • If you have plans to become enrolled in Medicare at a future date, make sure there are no contributions made to your HSA at least six months before your Medicare enrollment begins.

It is never too soon to start investing in YOUR future. Augusta Health’s Retirement Savings Plan offers several ways for you to build your retirement savings.

If you’re eligible and not a participant, you may be missing out on valuable benefits and opportunities to secure your financial future. Augusta Health’s Retirement Savings Plan offers a matching contribution and tax advantages.

Starting to save early and consistently for retirement is one of the best decisions you can make for your long-term financial well-being.

All team members are eligible to participate in Augusta Health’s 403(b) retirement plan and are automatically enrolled after 30 days of employment at a 1% contribution. Change contributions online at https://participant.empower-retirement.com/.

  • Make 403(b) pre-tax contributions via payroll deduction.
  • A Roth 403(b) post-tax contribution option is also available.
  • You control how much you contribute, and your amount can be changed anytime.
  • Changes will occur on the next administrative payroll.
  • You may contribute up to 75% of your eligible pay up to the IRS annual limit.
  • You have choice of investments.
  • Loans or hardship withdrawals are available.
  • You are eligible for distribution or rollover at retirement, or when employment ends.

Full-time and part-time team members (excluding PRN and Relief) who are contributing to the 403(b) plan will receive a 401(k) match of 50% of the first 6% contributions.

  • Employer matching contributions are vested at 3 years.

  • Your employee 403(b) and employer 401(k) offers the same choice of investments.

  • Loans or hardship withdrawals are available.

  • You are eligible for distribution or rollover at retirement or when employment ends.

Expect an email from Empower announcing the upgrade and key dates for the Quiet Period.

The Quiet Period begins. This is the last day you can access your account information online and request any changes through the current Prudential site.

Week of February 6

The Quiet Period ends. Empower will email you when it is time to register your account. (Communication will be mailed if you currently don’t have a registered email account with Prudential.)

Life and AD&D Insurance

Augusta Health provides full-time and part-time team members with Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment Insurance at no cost through Reliance Insurance.

  • Life Insurance benefits pay in the event of your death, and if you die by accident your beneficiaries will also receive Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) benefits.
  • AD&D also provides income if you were to have an accident, such as the loss of limb or sight.
  • Augusta Health pays for your Life Insurance at one-time your annual earnings up to $150,000.
  • Augusta Health pays for your AD&D Insurance at two-times your annual earnings up to $300,000.
  • Minimum Life and AD&D benefits are $10,000 regardless of your earnings.

Reliance Designation of Beneficiary Form

Team members who work full-time and part-time are eligible to purchase supplemental Employee, Spouse, Child Life Insurance and/or AD&D Insurance through Reliance Insurance. Supplemental benefits are elected voluntarily and are employee paid through payroll deduction. The Reliance Insurance voluntary benefits offer conversion and portability privileges, meaning you can opt to purchase these benefits within 30 days of retirement or termination of employment

  • Employees may choose from a minimum of $10,000 to a maximum of $500,000 in $10,000 increments.
  • Coverage for child(ren) is a flat amount per child of $500, when less than 6 month’s old $500; and $10,000 when 6 months to age 26. Age limit does not apply to handicapped children.
  • AD&D benefits include travel insurance options. Contact Reliance if you are interested in learning more.
  • New hires can elect to increase their Life and/or AD&D up to guarantee issue $250,000 for employee and $25,000 for a spouse without completing the Reliance medical questionnaire. Above those amounts or increases outside of new hire enrollment will require the medical questionnaire.
  • Dependents must be insured in order to be covered and are defined as your legal spouse, not legally separated or divorced. Unmarried financially dependent child(ren) to age 26, natural and adopted children, stepchildren, and foster children in your custody are qualified.
  • Enrolling in Life and/or AD&D coverages as both an employee and a dependent are not permitted.
  • If both parents are employed at Augusta Health, only one parent may cover their child(ren) per Life and/or AD&D benefit plan.
  •  
  • Supplemental Employee Life and Spouse Life coverage reduces to 50% at age 70.
  • Child(ren) rate is $0.50 cents per paycheck regardless of how many children covered.
  • Employee and Spouse rates are calculated by taking the coverage amount, dividing by 1,000, and multiplying that by the below rate to the corresponding age you or your spouse will be for the new year, then dividing by two for the per-paycheck rate.
  • Example: $100,000 coverage / 1000 = 100; Age 45; 100 x .110 = $11; $11 / 2 = $5.50 per paycheck.

Critical Illness, Accident, and Hospital Indemnity

Voluntary critical illness insurance is offered through Reliance and provides a fixed, lump- sum benefit upon diagnosis of a critical illness which can include heart attack, stroke, paralysis, and more. These benefits are paid directly to the insured and may be used for any reason, from deductibles and prescriptions to transportation and childcare. Coverage levels and rates are provided in the attached Reliance brochure.

Voluntary group accident insurance is offered through Reliance and provides a range of fixed, lump‐sum benefits for injuries resulting from a covered accident. These benefits are paid directly to the insured and may be used for any reason, from deductibles and prescriptions to transportation and childcare. Voluntary hospital indemnity insurance if offered through Reliance and provides a range of fixed, lump-sum daily benefits to help cover costs associated with a hospital admission, including room and board costs. These benefits are paid directly to the insured following a hospitalization that meets the criteria for benefit payment.

Disability Benefits

Augusta Health pays the cost for short-term disability insurance for all full-time and part-time team members. Short-term disability pays a percentage of your salary up to 60% for a specified amount of time when you are needing to be absent from work due to accidental bodily injury, sickness, mental illness, substance abuse, or pregnancy and cannot perform the duties of your job. Once you are eligible, enrollment is automatic, and there is no cost to you. Waiting periods may apply. Read the Short-Term Disability FAQ for more information.

You can file a claim with Matrix 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by calling 1-877-202-0055, by visiting matrixabsence.com, or by downloading the Matrix eServices App.

Augusta Health covers the cost for long-term disability insurance. This insurance offers salary replacement benefits when a team member must be absent from work due to accidental bodily injury, sickness, mental illness, substance abuse or pregnancy and cannot perform the duties of the job. Enrollment is automatic for all full-time and part-time benefits eligible team members who satisfy the benefit enrollment waiting period.

As a not-for-profit organization, Augusta Health qualifies as an eligible employer for the PSLF Program. The PSLF is a federal program that forgives any remaining student loan balances for those who work full time at a qualified not-for-profit and make 120 qualifying payments. Tuition.io helps guide team members through the complex process of determining eligibility and filing an application if they qualify for the PSLF program. All team members are eligible for Tuition.io PSLF’s support services.

Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF)

SLRA is available to team members in certain nursing and respiratory therapy positions. Team members who qualify for this program will receive $350/month towards their eligible student loans up to $5,250/year across ALL educational benefits.
