Tina Nunez is a living testament to our commitment to patient care. A patient with a serious eardrum issue needed ENT treatment. Despite several barriers the patient had that impeded their access to health services, Tina took initiative to reach out to the patient to help arrange care.

Her relentless efforts to help secure financial assistance for the patient, despite difficulties in contacting them, exemplify going above and beyond in patient care. This experience underscores how patients are the heart of Tina’s role. Tina delivers exceptional care focused on the customer’s perspective and ensures they have a warm and compassionate experience.

Teresa Blackwell is an invaluable asset to our organizational team. In various roles over the years, she consistently impresses her teammates. In her previous position, Teresa assisted patients with scheduling appointments. Whether coordinating office visits or outpatient imaging services, she prioritized each call, providing patients with a safe space to express their concerns. She worked tirelessly to enhance patients' access to care.

In the past year, Teresa transitioned to supporting team members. Her commitment to addressing colleagues' benefit concerns is unparalleled. She took the initiative to explain complex benefit options, ensuring everyone made informed decisions tailored to their unique needs. If uncertain, she promptly sought out accurate information and followed up to clarify any lingering questions.

Teresa's positive presence extends beyond her role; she warmly greets team members, patients and guests in our fitness center, making each interaction memorable. Her professional and compassionate demeanor embodies the spirit of Augusta Health.

A patient's emergency room journey showcased exceptional care from a multidisciplinary team. Shannon Cox and Sarah Small provided comfort and assistance as concerns for a stroke arose. Brian Phillips swiftly arranged a CT scan and the CT team's caring demeanor eased the patient's anxiety. Back in the emergency room, Matthew Meade explained results and even ensured the patient's warmth with blankets.

The MRI and echocardiogram teams were polite and informative, maintaining the patient's dignity throughout. Nursing, techs, OT, PT and dietary staff consistently showed kindness and professionalism. Amanda Justice's thorough care and Eli Wright's attentive night shifts stood out, making the patient truly feel cared for. The patient praised the team's respectful communication and singled out Matthew, Amanda, Eli, Shannon, Sarah, and Brian for special thanks, appreciating their exceptional dedication in providing the best care possible.

Jennifer Jolin often is called "the unsung hero" for her continuous efforts in supporting teammates. She tirelessly writes letters, recommends colleagues and nominates them for awards. Jennifer innovates by finding new and creative ways to recognize teammates, from small tokens of appreciation to uplifting notes for jobs well done.

She goes above and beyond by cooking full meals for entire shifts, dedicating her free time to recognize, reward, and partner in others' development, and simply checking in to ensure everyone feels seen and valued. Jennifer's mentoring, leadership and educational skills shine through as she strives to help others become their best selves. Her passion for learning and teaching is evident in her organized and creative approaches to staff development.

Despite her numerous contributions, Jennifer humbly works behind the scenes, inspiring others to excel and fostering a culture of development and recognition.

Laura Summy is a compassionate hospice caregiver known for her exceptional care in patient homes and at the Shenandoah House. Her dedication has earned recognition from teammates, patients and families, including nominations for DAISY awards.

One touching moment highlighted Laura's impact. A hospice patient's spouse brought in a donation envelope, sharing they donated annually in honor of their spouse's passing. The patient had been under hospice care for fifteen days and the spouse attributed the peaceful passing to Laura's amazing nursing care. This act of gratitude spoke volumes about Laura's ability to provide comfort and support during difficult times.

Laura embodies our values as a role model, delivering end-of-life care with purpose and a customer-focused approach. Her warmth, engagement and compassion make a meaningful difference in our community.
