Introducing B.R.I.D.G.E. – The enhancement to our former DEA&I name to better serve our shared commitment to unifying our team members in demonstrating our core values and fulfilling our mission and vision.

Our Augusta Health core values guide us to create and sustain a culture of care and compassion for our patients, each other, our partners, and neighbors in the communities we serve. To reflect our values, we commit to building trust with our patients and communities, supporting a culture of inclusion and psychological safety for staff, reducing disparities in care and outcomes, and promoting equity in access, opportunity, and experience.

We believe that a diverse and inclusive work environment for team members and providing culturally sensitive care for our patients are essential to fulfill the Augusta Health mission to strengthen the health and well-being of all people in our communities.

The Name

Belonging – Every person deserves to feel seen, safe, and respected.

Respect – We treat patients and colleagues with dignity, always.

Inclusion – All voices matter in decision-making and care delivery.

Diversity – We recognize and celebrate differences that strengthen care.

Growth – We are open to learning, evolving, and improving together.

Equity – We address barriers, so everyone has a fair chance to thrive.

Why The Change?

  • We’ve heard from team members and leaders across the organization: inclusion, belonging, and emotional safety matter.
  • The new name reflects who we are and how we serve — both each other and our communities.
  • The name change is symbolic — but it’s not the point.
  • The real shift is in how we’re choosing to approach this work: with greater clarity and a stronger connection to our mission: to strengthen the health and well-being of all people.
  • This is about evolving, not stepping back. The work continues, but the framing is more aligned with our values, mission, and Augusta Way culture.
  • We’re moving from a traditional DEA&I framework to one that is:
    • More human-centered, focusing on individual experiences, not just categories
    • More inclusive, expanding to reflect emotional safety, connection, and well-being
    • More actionable, supporting everyday behaviors that bring our values to life

The Impact

This is more than a name change. It’s a reaffirmation of our commitment to:

    • Build trust with our patients and communities
    • Support a culture of inclusion and psychological safety for staff
    • Reduce disparities in care and outcomes
    • Promote equity in access, opportunity, and experience
